Mumm
Cordon Rouge 1996 Champagne

An exceptional vintage for a highly
symbolic champagne. Cordon Rouge 1996 is made from the
best grape varieties in the Mumm vineyard, and the 1996
harvest was of outstanding quality. Keen connoisseurs
and Cordon Rouge enthusiasts will recognise the consistent
flavour that characterises Mumm champagnes; but it is
carried to even greater heights by a vintage with a
strong, mature personality, which develops a very sensual
aromatic balance.
Robe: golden yellow, with abundant,
lively bubbles forming a generous foam.
Bouquet: a sensation of intense sweetness, evoking
honey, vanilla and quince jelly, mingled with a hint
of mandarine and orange.
Flavour: the power of the 1996 vintage first dominates,
then develops its fullness and ends in a delicious,
lingering blend of sweetness and freshness.
With a blend of crus from Bouzy, Ambonnay, Ay, Verzy,
Verzenay, Cramant, Avize and Chouilly, the Cordon Rouge
Millésime 1996 cuvée reveals all the facets
of the 1996 vintage.
Pinot Noir (63%), round and full, brings delicacy and
aromatic length to this generous, subtle blend. The
crus from Bouzy, Ambonnay, Ay, Verzy and Verzenay make
it robust and fruity.
Chardonnays (37%) from Avize, Cramant and Chouilly
contribute finesse and elegance.
